I scream, you scream, WE ALL scream for ice cream!! Ice cream on a hot summers day can instantly transport us back to our youth and the sweet sound of the ice cream truck. Creating these same sweet memories with your little one has never been easier thanks to some amazing party decor from Meri Meri and Oh Happy Day! So the next time your six year old shouts “ICE CREAM!!” you can not only pull out a frozen treat, but also transform your house into an ice cream palace! Here's everything you need to get started!
Decorate
Setting the scene can have a big impact for the birthday boy/girl and their small quarantined group. Even during these times, we still feel it’s important to decorate and celebrate - maybe now even more so - just on a smaller scale. Look for hanging decor that can be used again and again! This type of quality decor is sometimes pricier than the dollarstore variety, but it looks way better, lasts longer and doesn't just end up in a landfill (#ecoconscious). Following the party, hanging ice cream honeycombs can be displayed in a playroom or bedroom and cardboard ice cream trucks can become the new set of wheels to join the pile of toy figures we ALL have lying around! Shop Caring Confetti’s ice cream decor.
Music
Curate a sweet playlist of songs about ice cream with some upbeat kid’s bop songs that will get the energy rising. As a parent, your playlist may have to take a VERY dramatic turn for the day, but trust us, it will create such a fun and perfect atmosphere. For a more palatable option, check out Sam And The Womp’s single ‘Ice Cream Man’.
Virtual Guests
Involve local friends and family in the party! Connect with them via Zoom and FaceTime on the special day and share a virtual ice cream cone together. Or, if you want to get ambitious, plan ahead and share the birthday joy by pre-purchasing gift cards from a local ice cream shop and drop them off at your guests’ houses before the big day. Let them know that there’s an ice cream cone waiting for them and ask them to take a picture or video of them enjoying their treat to send along to the birthday boy/girl.
